The food is always good! Everyone is friendly and nice. The older black guy that dresses nice, I believe he’s the owner or the manager does an outstanding job with this restaurant. I will definitely be a forever customer as long as he’s there and his staff 10/10

I have been going to this place since the mid 1980s. Very simply, it is a great breakfast. One is deep on the south side of Chicago, with all of its rough edges. But the breakfast at this place is excellent. We had pigs in a blanket, which were super… I easily could have eaten two of these large plates. Also had pancakes, which were excellent. Some, this place is as good as it was 40 years ago, which was fabulous.

Everyone that works here DOES WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE!!! from greeting you with pleasantries, ensuring a short wait time, smiling and friendly wait staff, hot and delicious pancakes and all the other things. I can tell management has a strong presence and they work as a team!! I LOVE TO SEE THIS!! Continue to ADD value to the community by letting all people of color feast in harmony and laughter!! Bravo!!

Great food – ordered the spinach crepe with my choice of potato pancake (the thin, lace-like kind) and fresh orange juice. Portion size was very good. Service was friendly and attentive. Well-maintained (seemingly recently renovated), sunny, airy, clean establishment. Noise level increased as it got busier. Plenty of mall parking available directly west. Can’t wait to return.

The Original Pancake House is a great place to have breakfast. It has a large variety. Since I was there for breakfast, I did not notice if there were non breakfast items that one would associate with lunch. The place is open until about 3:00 pm. I suggest looking at the menu online to see what you will be offered when you go there. The place is clean. The wait staff is friendly. For a neighborhood spot in the Hyde Park area I strongly recommend this place.
