One Year in the West Loop

On August 4th, we celebrated one year of serving breakfast in the West Loop with a special treat: free homemade buttermilk pancakes for everyone! It was a heartwarming day filled with regulars, neighbors, families, and friends — the very people who made our first year unforgettable.

On August 4th, we marked one year of serving breakfast in the West Loop — and we celebrated the only way that made sense to us: pancakes on the house.

Everyone who dined with us got a free order of our homemade buttermilk pancakes. We went through a lot of batter. And the dining room was full of the exact people we hoped to see — regulars, neighbors, families, friends. It was, honestly, the best possible way to spend an anniversary.

Thank you, West Loop

We knew we were coming into a neighborhood with no shortage of great places to eat. What we didn’t expect was how quickly you’d make room for us anyway.

Thank you to the regulars who found us in the first week and never stopped coming. To the neighbors who walked in on a whim and came back with friends. To everyone who waited out a rush on a Sunday morning, who told a coworker about us, who brought their family in for a birthday breakfast. A restaurant doesn’t survive its first year on food alone — it survives because people decide to make it part of their routine. You did that, and we don’t take it lightly. Free pancakes felt like the least we could offer in return.

Thank you to our team

None of this works without the people behind the counter and in the kitchen.

Our staff has shown up early, stayed late, and handled the chaos of a first year with more grace than we could have asked for. Every compliment we’ve received about the atmosphere here is really a compliment about them. Thank you — sincerely.

Four generations in

We’re a fourth-generation family business. That means the recipes we serve you, and the way we run the room, come from people who were doing this long before any of us were born. Carrying that forward is a privilege and a responsibility in equal measure.

Expanding into this neighborhood was a dream we’d talked about for years before we did anything about it. Standing here a year later — in a corner of Chicago this full of energy — it still feels a little surreal.

Here’s to year two

We’re not going anywhere. We’ll keep the coffee hot, the griddle going, and the door open.

Thank you for a wonderful first year. See you at breakfast!
